Support Groups

A support group is a gathering of people facing common issues to share what's troubling them. Through the sharing of experiences, they're able to offer support, encouragement, and comfort to the other group members, and receive the same in return.

Will a Support Group Benefit You?

According to the Mayo Clinic, support groups have many benefits such as:

•Feeling less lonely, isolated or judged

•Reducing distress, depression, anxiety or fatigue

•Talking openly and honestly about your feelings

•Improving skills to cope with challenges

•Staying motivated to manage chronic conditions or stick to treatment plans

•Gaining a sense of empowerment, control or hope

•Improving understanding of a disease and your own experience with it

•Getting practical feedback about treatment options

During these group sessions we will focus on some of the following, but not limited to:

•coping skills

•stress response

•identifying emotions

•overcoming obstacles

•resources and activities

•strategies to address feelings of loneliness
