Mental Health Blog
Benefits of a Mental Health Blog
Blogging for mental health has become a popular option for many people. A mental health blog provides many benefits for both the blogger and readers, some of which are listed below.
Processing Thoughts, Grief, and Stress
Life is tough. It’s full of ups and downs, twists and turns, and everything in between. A mental health blog can help the writer — and readers — process these things. From traumatic events to normal daily challenges — venting helps. And knowing that someone else out there is experiencing the same things can keep one from feeling completely alone.
Share Insight and More
Not everyone has mental health struggles or knows someone that does. Without this personal experience, it can be difficult to relate to those that do. A mental health blog, however, provides a platform to share experiences, support, encouragement, and insight. It does not matter if you have been clinically diagnosed with a condition or simply need a way to deal with daily stress. A mental health blog can provide the answer.
For these reasons and more, I started my blog Tommy Talks. It’s a safe place to share struggles and gain encouragement to make it through this journey we call life.
“You can’t go back and change the beginning but you can start where you are and change the ending.”
- C.S. Lewis
Personal Life Blog
How a Personal Life Blog Can Help You Be the Person You Want to Be
Every single person on the planet has a story to tell — a life full of struggles and triumphs. Throughout that journey, they have picked up knowledge and wisdom that can only be gained through personal experiences.
No one knows it all, but everyone has a piece to the puzzle. This is why I believe a personal life blog is a great idea. It gives the blogger a chance to tell their story and to share the pearls of wisdom they have gained over time.
Through my own personal life blog and family life blog, I have discovered new things myself. I am not perfect. Every day is a learning experience. Through the reflections I share on my blog, I learn more about myself. I can pinpoint strengths, weaknesses, and so much more. My reflections help me become an even better person for myself and my family.
Even better, I get to share these things with others. My readers can learn from my life – from my choices, my mistakes, my triumphs, and my failures. Sharing these things can help others in their own life.
Additionally, as I reflect, it can encourage my readers to reflect on themselves, their lives, and their pasts. Through this self-reflection, they can pinpoint areas that need improvement and — hopefully — gain the wisdom and encouragement from my blog that they need to succeed.
At the core of my personal and family life blog, I aim to help others live a more fulfilling life. This goal starts at home, of course. I want to become the best person I can be. I hope that in the process, though, that I am able to help others, as well.
How Tommy Talks Got Started
For years, I have served as a helpful role to those seeking inspiration, help, or advice. In 2020, I finally decided to own that role and be intentional about sharing my story. I started writing about my passions, my thoughts, experiences, and curious wonderings about our society. I founded Tommy Talks with a mission to give others a taste of what goes on in my mind, and it has been a wild success ever since.
Tommy Talks has grown from a blog about mental health to a nonprofit designed to promote normalizing and improving mental health through creative arts, education, and peer support. Believe me when I say, this is only the beginning, stay tuned.
